Are you overkilling your balance with finger pushing?

In class, we insist on one key concept: training balance is irrelevant if you haven't established the other foundations first.
Once you start being able to catch the right position(s) upside down, without hurling yourself upside down, you can start prioritising balance training.
Improving the way you use fingers to balance rests on three pillars:
timing and body awareness - you learn to push and relax your fingers at the right time.
stamina - you learn to push-relax for longer and longer.
quality - you make your corrections more subtle.

In the Quality Toolbox this week, we're studying: Modulating.
Modulating refers to the need to not use a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Simply put, the more you fall, the closer you are to bailing, and the harder you should push on your fingers.
Obvious isn't it?
Then why are you pushing just as hard when you are barely at vertical?
